Thats a tough situation to be going through, especially at that age. Glad to hear that they kept there chin up and had a smile on there face. I like that you are speaking to students and impacting there lives in a positive way. Back in high school we had an inspirational pro bike team that I think gave a great message. Check them out at http://www.wheelsoffreestyle.com if you'd like.

Just started Jonah Lehrer's 'How We Decide' and am rereading 'Rapt' by Winifred Gallagher. They are both great books. 'Rapt' is especially enlightening on the subject of focus.

Dan...this is our 2nd van and although we fought it at first, it's a great move! Like you, we saved up and paid cash so it definitely drives better!

Good stuff man. I'm currently looking down the same sad barrel of reality....contemplating buying the dreaded VAN!! I'm still pushing for an SUV, but those things seem to be too expensive for our debt-free lifestyle. You are right, Craigslist is awesome. I have sold everything on that site, and bought many things as well. You have a good site, keep up the good work.

You're 100% right about the best way to be a good father to your kids is to be a good husband to their mother. That is one of the best ways to show your kids how good of a person you are. Growing up in a family where my father wasn't always the greatest role model when it came to respect for my mother, it has changed my views of my father to be negative and not-so-always-caring. Good Job in the work you do and keep it up! I have seen you speak and you're a great role model for both teens and adults. <3
